Meet Ginny

CPA. COACH. PILATES INSTRUCTOR.

That might seem like a pretty unusual combo, but for a business coach for creative entrepreneurs, it’s the inspired formula that led me to create the exact business that I love so much.

The business part of my journey started in college, where I studied accounting. After graduating I worked in public accounting for a major firm.

Business cred: I ran audits for mid-size (privately held) organizations and trained staff through Partners at the national and local office levels, giving me a seven year bootcamp on business finance and operations.

As a manager, I focused on risk management and running the audit team. I had my CPA and was on the partner track but there was a BIG problem.

I was burning out.

So, I left the public accounting world and joined the global internal audit team at Herman Miller, Inc. one of the top furniture brands in the world. (Even today, I love their mission, “Design and Build a Better World.”) The environment was fast-paced and intense. I spent my time surrounded by beautiful design and great people.

When the opportunity arose, I jumped at the chance to move into human resources. They “let me in” as a bean-counter because the position included overseeing the departmental budget and collaborating with other departments on shared services and fees. Working with people and finance? Dreamy!

At the same time Herman Miller – again on the cutting edge – was one of only two companies in Michigan to create an internal coaching department. Shortly thereafter, I was invited to be a company coach providing career path, leadership and team coaching to HM’s global staff of 11,000. Upon completing The Coaches Training Institute program, I rolled up my sleeves and focused on “turning around” the toughest cultures within the company’s main manufacturing and distribution facilities.

Business cred: Productivity, communication and team dynamics guru, tackling the toughest departments and cultures. Results included hitting corporate targets, creating new leaders and increased productivity.

I was incredibly rewarded by the challenges and what I was able to achieve in this role at one of the 100 Best Companies to Work For in the country.

Yet, there was still something out of alignment…

It was about this time my parents moved back to our hometown in the Detroit area. I had always wanted to live near my extended family as an adult, so I jumped at the chance to be a part of that community.

For me, it was the perfect time to start my own business. After all that I learned about business, finance and people through my career and my coaching training, I began coaching clients in 2005.

At the same time I became a certified Pilates Instructor through The PhysicalMind Institute. Years of working with individuals and groups in the studio gave me the final ingredient that makes my business/personal/physical formula of coaching so powerful and effective for creative, intuitive entrepreneurs.

When I think about my path it seems eclectic and disjointed and yet…when I take a step back and look at the bigger picture I can see that all along, I was being prepared to work with women entrepreneurs.

Practical + Spiritual + Intuitive

My structural, financial and systems experience in accounting is practical and a huge need for entrepreneurs as you set up your way of doing business and address the issues of running one each day.

My experience in recruiting, relocation, policy design and implementation, managing employee issues, leveraging individuals and teams for maximum performance means that I recognize and understand the basic infrastructure pieces of a small business (and a family and household, too.)

My own journey of faith, realizing my own unique identity and purpose and learning to move from my head into the surrender of living in the flow of Spirit are an integral part of what I bring to the table.

As for Pilates training, I’ve found that the and using body awareness and geography is a powerful information source and catalyst for achieving your goals.

All of the pieces have integrated to become my core connection™ philosophy. As an entrepreneur and coach I’m fulfilled and enjoying my life, and know that I’m making an impact as a person and in my business.

But I’m not finished growing yet. Training programs and work with my own coach ensures that I’ll stay on the cutting edge of results-based coaching, continuing to bring the tools, systems, processes and techniques of greatest value to the table for you.

Who are your clients?

Since I started my coaching business, I’ve had the opportunity to work with women entrepreneurs – over 500 so far. Many are in the design industries (graphic, interior, fashion), film, or communications industries (HR, marketing, PR), or in the  healing industries, (spa, travel, fitness, beauty, chiropractic/natural healing/massage). Some run non-profits and some coach/consult/speak.

My clients are street-wise savvy or MBA-sharp, love to learn, grow, travel, create, connect and make the world a better more beautiful place. Highly intelligent and intuitive – they are incredibly accomplished in both their career and lives and are deeply spiritual.

As women of conviction they care about finding the best answer, strategy, path, choice and this left-right brain marriage often causes challenges in decision-making, clarity and motivation. Gaining leadership strength to navigate their vision of success to victory is one of the many reasons entrepreneurs seek me out.

Clients sometimes seek me out because they’re feeling overwhelmed in their business. This feeling and dissatisfaction can leak over into their family life, too. They are busy (way too busy) running a business and a home: living in tension and stress doing everything themselves and putting everyone else first. Wanting to grow their business, wondering how they’ll have the capacity to do so. That’s where a team, systems, policies and procedures make all the difference. Learning how, when and to whom to delegate in family and business is key.

Whatever the reason, through my group and private coaching programs, I work with them to discover and tap into the core of who they really are, their unique gifts to find their power and leverage it using the 8 core strategies to make the leap to their definition of success.

The results often bring me to tears: women business owners making a huge economic, ecological and human impact on the world and doing it with ease, joy and freedom. It’s inspiring and an honor to work with them.
