The Olympic Flame was lit this morning in Olympia, Greece and the Torch is on its way to London for the Summer 2012 Games.

I have goosebumps!  The sacred kind that make the hair stand up on my arms…I get teary and my heart swells.  It’s that kind of inspiring day.

Because it is the fire within you that fuels you to overcome Lie #2 and take advantage of every obstacle, detour, distraction or delay as an opportunity for mercy, learning, renewed action and miracles.  It is the vessel through which your mission is carried out in the world, trumping Lie #7.

Did you know?

• The Torch is lit by the rays of the sun ~ to ensure it’s purity.

• Dictionary.com tells us that Olympus is a poetic word for heaven.

• The Torch Relay symbolizes the spreading of the Olympic message of peace.

• And the Olympic Flame is considered one of the world’s eternal flames and is not to go out, thus travels with an entrourage of relayers, caretakers and a host of back up flames (3 of them!).

Your flame is the same:  it’s what I call the Olympic Torch Why^tm facet of your CORE (soul).

It’s “why” you do anything…and everything.

It either stops you…..

With lack of clarity, overdelivering, procrastination, undercharging, inability to make requests/ask for what you want/ask for the sale, stress, conflicts, overwhelm, or……

By tamping it down, judging it, ignoring it, or allowing it to be snuffed out. By believing the lie that this part of you is impure, evil, selfish and temporal.

Or it propels you…

IF like 2012 Olympic Games Chief Sebastian Coe you:  ”…promise to protect the Flame,  honor it’s traditions, [have] an uplifting torch relay of which we can all be proud; and inspire a generation.”

Protect your Flame, & Honor it’s Traditions:  it is from heaven and eternal and is never to be judged, denied, or snuffed out

• discover what your primary “why” is and accept it for the God-given gift it is
• determine your traditions, what you need and how you operate
• tap into Spirit, leisure and fun, meditate and pray
• connect to your heart, vision, honor what you want
• create a plan, make requests and take action to care for you in healthy ways – this is not selfish, it’s wise and will keep you going when the road to victory gets rough
• these “traditions” are your personal infrastructure and are clues to how to set up your household and business so they run on their own, your way!

Have and uplifting Torch Relay of which you can be proud, inspire your generation and leave a legacy for the next: purity and peace

• surround yourself with uplifting people who believe in you and support your vision, mission and legacy (family, friends, and TEAM)
• get your message out to the world:  where are you holding back?  what’s one action you will take today?
• get into the marketplace:  who do you need to be in front of? what will you do to be there?
• participate in the economy:  set fees that value the results you help people achieve, offer your services regularly/consistently and ask for the sale
• enjoy reciprocity:  receive the resources, team, clients, revenues, profits from running the “relay” of life and business – be sustainable:leave a legacy
• celebrate: tell us about your silver, bronze and gold medals, any and all joys – it uplifting for us all

A hobbyist owner or business owner?

Stop…and really listen to the answer that’s true for you.

Did you know that only 5% of business owners make more than $100,000 in their own businesses?

And…

That less than 2% of women-owned businesses make over $1 million in annual revenue?

And…

That many (most) of you who ARE over 6 figures and even those closing in on 7…are still struggling with cash flow? Meaning you are not generating or keeping enough profit to be sustainable.

Whether 6 or 7 figures is your goal or not…we all need money to live. Think about this: of all the things we need to survive, only air is free. All of us need a certain amount of cash flow to have water, food, shelter, electricity, gas, transportation, etc. As I’ve shared before, money in and of itself isn’t bad. It’s just a useful tool to help us interact and connect with one another to have our needs met, make a difference and thrive as individuals and as a community.
When you’re an entrepreneur that means your revenue goal will be a number that will cover making a distribution to you (what is known as a paycheck in corporate), cover the payment of taxes, and cover what it takes to run your business (expenses) with cash left over – otherwise known as profit. To be held in reserve or reinvested in the business. This math equals sustainability: the availability of resources, ease, peace, freedom…and more impact at home and in your business.

No matter who I coach: a social entrepreneur, a consultant, a single mom, a franchise-owner, a designer, a financial planner, a yoga practitioner, the head of a national non-profit…you all want these things.

That may mean you need to shift:

• from being a hobbyist owner to being a business owner
• from starving artist to financially free
• from managing expenses to growing revenue and keeping profits
• from your identity and worth being based in money or money decisions to being based on who you are created to be (your core)
• from frugal to wealthy

I love what my coach (David Neagle) says is the definition of wealth: the ability to generate whatever amount of money you need whenever you need it. You are wealthy right now. Woven into your core is the ability, power, resources, integrity, and ownership to do it. Your victory begins within.

Which one has you in its grip?

Lie #6 has had a particularly strong hold on me…..

My desire is to spread the message (globally) that your identity, power, resources and victories all reside within YOU. Thus the new tagline: “Victory Begins Within™” and the redesign of the website this year.

Going forward, along with my longstanding focus on leadership and basic business principles, you’ll see the emphasis begin to move toward money. I am convicted that it is through the transformation of our beliefs about money that we will heal the planet: one person (you), one family (yours), one community, one economy, one country at a time.

It is true that you cannot serve two masters: God and Mammon. Either your identity (and thus your decisions and actions) are based in who you are at the core [abundance and truth] or based in fear about money [and thus lack… or as one of my clients says…a ‘po-broke’ mentality].

Ask yourself how often you think about money (growing it, saving it, worrying or planning). Ask yourself how often you say: “I can’t afford that”. Be honest about your level of ownership and power with money.

As many of you know from recent newsletter articles on capitalism, business and money I have quite the soapbox about this (see September 2011, October 2011 and December 2011). And it’s edgy. Not so “nice” or “good” girl and certainly not “appropriate”. It’s a bit challenging, especially when we’re in a conversation about your desire to engage in coaching and I call you out on where your subconscious is holding you back (fig leaves). I reflect back to you the lie that has you bound and ask you to take full ownership for what’s going on and what you want. To commit to your core and your vision – with your money. No excuses, only conscious choices.

Lie #6 threatens me with shame, judgment and punishment. And I’ve allowed this fear, this ‘po-broke’ mentality to hold me back from being a blessing with a phone call, a question, an invitation, a challenge, a truth, a commitment… As I move forward in boldness (through the “terror barrier”) the feedback is that those actions are indeed a blessing, an answer to prayer, a breakthrough in and of themselves.

Look what I (and you) have been missing. My passion for my mission and what I want is now stronger than the lie, so I’m willing to be uncomfortable (leave the fuselage) and embrace the truth and actions that will help us all experience our vision of victory.

Who or what are you waiting for?

Stop and be still for this one…

I thought I was in good shape, implementing my strategic plan for 2012 and moving along with progress and feeling so good about honoring my core and my path. Well….this past weekend at the Breaking Free Live Experience in Salt Lake City I discovered where I stop.

It was a blind spot for me and the experience revealed a place where I wasn’t taking full responsibility. I had cleaned it up a bit, made some good progress AND was still waiting for someone to come. I figured out who and why I was expecting them.

So who is it for you?

What are you not owning?

If you are not where you want to be, not moving fast enough, or waiting for the best right answer to show up in your inbox, there is something you’re not owning about your success.

You know how I teach you all to own your needs (even the icky ones) and get them cared for in healthy ways, well… I’d discovered that the two situations I kept replaying in my head were actually needs. I had gotten close to what they were many times, but couldn’t quite go there all the way…this weekend I named them and chose to get them met myself, with the power God. It was a painful choice. And a freeing one.

I want you to be free too…to have your power, energy, time and other resources fully available to you so you can take the leaps you need to make to grow your family and business into the success you are envisioning.

You just need to make a decision and take the next step.
